Welcome to our pub, Ye Olde Black Cross, a 17th Century Coaching Inn where King Charles II stopped to have his horse re-shod.
We are a friendly food pub with a good selection of ales, wines and lagers. At the rear of the pub we have a large beer garden, large car park and 4 en-suite letting rooms with wi-fi.
We opened in May 2009 after a refurbishment and have made some drastic changes over the past few months to help re-establish this grand old coaching inn.
We have introduced a fantastic Chef, Tony Copson along with our range of succulent steaks, if you remember how good steaks were 20 odd years ago, then you must come and try one of these!
Serving Succulent Steaks
Tuesday - Saturday 12 -3pm & 6pm - 9pm (10pm Saturdays)
Tony is an adventurous Chef, with a great sense of humour as you will see from his menu! "Cheesed Off Chicken" - "Larry's Well Minted" & Daffy's Out for a Duck" are some of his specials worth savouring. We are a family run, family friendly pub and welcome all customers, whether you're just popping in for a 'quick one' on the way home from work or planning an evening out with a great meal.
Maybe you want to watch the football with a pint and a pie or join us for our Jazz nights.
If you've never been in 'The Black' before, now is the time to come and see the changes that have been made. We love it and we think you will too!
All major sporting events shown on Sky & ESPN on 3 large screen LCD TV's around the pub.
